HealthSystems of Illinois, also known as HIS, is a nonprofit organization that offers health care services for individuals and families. The organization works under a contract with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services to provide Medicaid certification for admission, coding and analysis. It offers retrospective pre- and post-payment reviews for inpatient care in a combination of medical, surgical and psychiatric facilities. HealthSystems of Illinois specializes in providing telephonic care, and on-site and Web-based interactive services. The organization has a staff of trained and certified project managers, supervisors, nurses, specialists and statisticians who offer accounting, administration and data management services.
