• Dental Sealants
  Sealants are a thin coating that is painted on teeth to protect them from cavities, they are typically used in children, but can be used in adults as well. Sealants are a quick and affordable option to prevent cavities and tooth fillings. They can dramatically reduce the number of fillings placed in permanent teeth during critical stages of growth and development. On the chewing surface of molars, deep grooves reach into the center of the teeth. Under a microscope, these crevices might look like a deep canyon. In fact, most of them are narrower than a single toothbrush bristle but wide enough for bacteria to hide. It’s easy to see how cavities can form in such a perfect hideout. If the grooves in permanent molars are sealed at a young age, the risk of decay occurring on the chewing surfaces decreases dramatically.

Restorative

• Fillings
  A filling is a simple restoration procedure primarily used to restore cavities or other mild decay or deterioration. Fillings are extremely common and have a high success rate. We offer options for composite fillings and amalgam fillings—both are safe. Which type we use depends on your needs, but we commonly use composite fillings because they are tooth-colored and appear more natural for teeth that are visible and easier for others to see or notice.
• Resin Composite
  Inlays and onlays are bonded directly onto the teeth using special high-strength resins that can actually increase the strength of a tooth by 75 percent. As a result, they can last 10 – 30 years. Inlays and onlays can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, gold, and composite resin. These pieces are bonded to the damaged area of the tooth.

  Dental bonding includes preparing the tooth for the procedure by lightly etching the surface and applying a bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, a plastic resin is applied and sculpted into the desired shape. Once set, the resin is trimmed, smoothed and polished to a natural appearance.

Endodontics

• Pulpotomy
  If the pulp is damaged, it is important to retain as much of the living pulp as possible, while also treating the infection or removing any damaged sections. One way we do this is with a pulpotomy.

• Deep Cleaning
  Scaling and root planing is also commonly known as deep cleaning.  Your dentist will remove plaque and tartar buildup below the gum line to treat the gum disease. This is necessary if the teeth have started to separate from the gums and pockets in the space between the teeth and gums have formed. Plaque gets trapped in these pockets and cannot be removed with traditional at-home brushing and flossing.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

• Oral Surgery
  You should expect some general aches and pains associated with any oral surgery procedure. Any pains from the procedure should be relieved in about a week. We will also prescribe you painkillers to help you manage your pain. Once your implant sites have healed, however, you will experience much more comfort than you would with other tooth replacement options.
• Osseous Surgery
• Tooth Extractions
  Nashoba Family Dentists offer tooth extractions for patients if they need a tooth safely removed. The process is typically fast with the most critical part being recovery. Controlling the bleeding after a tooth extraction is important for the healing process, so we will have you bite down on a gauze pad for 30 to 45 minutes to form a blood clot. You should not disturb the blood clot for the next 24 hours so it can heal properly. We recommend an ice pack to the outer cheek for the swelling. Once it has decreased, you can place a warm compress to the same area. Remember to rinse your mouth with salt water to clean the extraction area.
• Bone Grafting
  All-on-4 dental implants are an alternative to dentures. Requiring only four implants per jaw, compared to traditional implants that require eight to ten implants per jaw. The all-on-4 technique reduces the need for bone grafting and the implants act just like natural teeth, making this procedure quicker, easier, and more comfortable for patients. You will walk out the day of your appointment with a new set of teeth.
