  Richard Newland is an attorney and CPA with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. He provides legal counsel to businesses and individuals in the areas of strategic planning, construction contract drafting, tax, mergers and acquisitions, and business succession planning. He regularly gives clients direction regarding claim preparation and documentation and assists in developing pre-litigation and litigation strategy when a client is represented by its insurer. He has successfully represented clients in front of the Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board.

  Cum Laude graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law where he studied business law, federal taxation, and real estate transactions. Evan received top paper in Civil Procedure I and earned a 4.0 grade in Criminal Procedure and Constitutional Law. While in law school, Evan was an active member, and Justice of, Phi Alpha Delta- Law Fraternity and was a member of the UALR Law Review.

  Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is the process of resolving legal conflicts without going to trial. ADR is sometimes the most inexpensive and time efficient means of resolving a legal claim. Most construction contracts provide for the use of ADR as an alternative to going to trial. Our firm is in the forefront of this area, advising clients on arbitration, mediation, mini-trials, and private judging. We have extensive expertise in determining when a form of ADR is in the best interest of clients and meets their needs better than traditional litigation. We have substantial experience and training in ADR and routinely advise our clients on the legal consequences flowing from particular terms and conditions of all ADR options.

  Defended employer against wrongful termination suit, establishing Arkansas precedent that an employer may recover attorneys’ fees from employee who unsuccessfully sues for wrongful termination.

  Junius Bracy (J.B.) Cross, Jr. is an attorney practicing in construction law and related areas since 1978. His Law practice includes Construction Surety companies, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and owners of construction projects. His litigation experience covers State and Federal Courts, Arbitration, Mediation and practice before various construction related boards and commissions. He has been involved with virtually all areas of the construction industry including the state of Arkansas, Arkansas Highway Department, Corps of Engineers, Federal Highway Administration, Department of Defense, large commercial projects and residential contracts.

  Ms. Caldwell also devotes a significant portion of her practice to business succession and complex estate planning. She is experienced in the intricacies of succession planning, including valuation and buy-out structures for the construction industry. She frequently drafts and reviews commercial lease agreements and routinely serves as local counsel for out of state firms closing commercial real estate transactions in Arkansas.
