- Medical Weight LossNutrition plays a significant role in overall health and can help patients feel better when they’re going through cancer treatment. Sometimes the side effects experienced from treatment, or even from cancer itself, can impact a patient’s ability to eat like they used to. From nausea and difficulty swallowing to unintended weight loss and more, the side effects of cancer treatment can have a lasting impact on one’s day to day life and nutritional status. Our team of registered dietitians are here to help patients navigate these changes at any stage of treatment, from diagnosis to survivorship.
- Nutritional CounselingAreas of assistance for those who qualify include housing and transportation, as well as financial, emotional and nutritional counseling. In addition, CARTI offers cancer patients a variety of publications and resources on cancer, treatment and prevention.
- Emergency CareThe information provided does not replace the specific recommendations from your physician. Please contact your healthcare team if you have any questions. Information will be kept strictly confidential. If you are expriencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department.
- ColonoscopyColonoscopy is a type of visual exam. For this test, the doctor looks at the entire length of the colon and rectum with a colonoscope, a flexible tube about the width of a finger with a light and small video camera on the end. It is inserted into the anus and travels through the rectum and colon. Special instruments can be passed through the colonoscope to biopsy, or sample, or remove any suspicious-looking areas such as polyps, if needed.
- ImmunizationsAll new team members will be required to show proof of receiving their first COVID-19 vaccine before starting. The new team member should receive their second dose within 30 days of employment. CARTI accepts Pfizer, Moderna and Novavax vaccinations. Exemption requests for this policy can be discussed with Occupational Health at the time the offer is extended. Please email OCCHealth@CARTI.com with questions.

- Ovarian CancerMultiple close family members with the same type of cancer or related cancers (e.g., breast and ovarian cancer, colon and uterine cancer)
- Cervical CancerThe best way to find cervical cancer early is to have regular screenings with a Pap test, which may be combined with a test for human papillomavirus or HPV...
- Colon CancerWhile only about 10 percent of cancers are hereditary, our team goal at CARTI is to reduce the mortality rate of cancer in Arkansas, which is higher than the national average. Genetic counselors occupy a small but important slice of this fight by helping to identify individuals at risk for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, hereditary colon cancer and other inherited forms of cancer.
- Prostate CancerThe screening tests discussed here are used to look for possible signs of prostate cancer. But these tests can’t tell for sure if you have cancer. If the result of one of these tests is abnormal, you will probably need a prostate biopsy to know for sure if you have cancer.

- LesionsAs Pap testing became routine in this country, finding pre-invasive lesions (pre-cancers) of the cervix became far more common than finding invasive cancer. Being alert to any signs and symptoms of cervical cancer can also help avoid unnecessary delays in diagnosis. Early detection greatly improves the chances of successful treatment and can prevent any early cervical cell changes from becoming cancer.
