It has been many years now since I have stopped seeing Dr. Alan Kogan. I was his patient from 1998 to 2004. The reason that I stopped seeing Dr. Kogan is because he made a racial comment towards me. In 2004, after 6 years of being his patient, he asked me some questions that were offensive. I am originally from the Caribbean but of African descent. I am not sure what was happening in his mind this particular day but he decided that after 6 years he would ask me certain questions about my race. Now I know that based on your race, you might be more prone to inherit certain heart conditions, but why ask a patient questions about race 6 years after you have been seeing them? It didn't make sense at all. To make my review a little shorter, I will just indicate the problem that occurred with Dr. Kogan. He asked me which country in Africa my ancestors came from. When I told him I don't know, he proceeded to ask me sarcastically "So you don't know which boat they came off of?" I felt that this was very disrespectful to say the least. I called his office about a week later to file a complaint and the person that I spoke with did not take it seriously. I am writing this review so that other potential patients or current patients of Dr. Kogan might know what type of person he is. I believe in forgiveness and I do forgive him but at the same time, it would be very negligent of me to not do all I can to make others aware of the risk they are putting themselves in if they choose to see Dr. Kogan.
