We received a call from AAA, they wanted to see if they can offer a quote on roofing since they were going to be in the AREA. I told them No, but asked if there did Storm doors. They replied yes they had a whole line of doors that include installation and they can send a Salesperson out that can show what is available and supply a quote. So they asked to make an appointment and that both I and my wife be there. Which was fine since we were making the decision together.
A little history, we have 3 Dogs at are home. One of the dogs is a Large 130 Plus pound Great Pyrenees/ German Shepherd mix. She is very protective and likes to jump at doors and looks out the windows at strangers. We had a Storm door added to the back of the house 9 years earlier. At that time, we did not have her we only had our Small Italian greyhound. The door we purchased was a standard medium grade storm door with a sliding roll-down screen. At the time of that install, it was a perfect fit for our needs. In all, it was about 500 dollars for the door and the install. But things changed when we got are Large dog. She destroyed that door quickly. So we knew we needed a replacement that was reinforced and sturdy. SO when they called we knew that we can get some questions answered and we were looking for a Storm door for the front also.
So we knew by looking online reinforce storm doors were going to be much higher in price. We were okay with that since that was what was needed if they were to last any amount of time. So we were expecting for 2 reinforce heavy-duty doors to be 1500 plus including install. Again this is not about the price we were looking for something specific for our needs.
Day of the sales pitch by AAA. We were greeted by the Sales Manager and a Sales trainee. We showed them our old door and how it was basically destroyed by our dog. There even got to see all 3 of our dogs. And our whole conversation was about our needs. There sales pitches are all about fitting to your needs and not about price. So we let them do their sales pitch. And we kept going back to what we needed. In finally he told us what we wanted to hear. We do have a storm door that is reinforced with a bottom kick plate. This storm door is a wielded aluminum we a reinforced bottom with a kick plate. It was able to take the impact and not bend out of shape and it had a removable window or screen insert. He sold us on this reinforced storm door that had a wielded kick plate and hinges. It was wield not pieced together and is strong and with the reinforcing plate, it would withstand being dented when the dog jumped on it or if we kicked it to close or keep it open. This is what we wanted and this was what the discussion went to after about 30 minutes of the 60-minute presentation. We thought we were on the same page; we were not looking at a standard door. We were looking at a reinforced door with a kick plate that can handle heavy use and a heavy dog jumping on it. Then they started showing us options like door handles and colors etc… We went with the removal glass and screen with standard door handles one door in red and one door in white.
Then came the pitch price but it includes a lifetime warranty. We were shocked at the price at first but it was what we wanted. A strongly reinforced door with a kick plate that can handle our dog. They were offering a discount for placing a sign in the yard. I was okay with the sign but requested that they put it on our porch and zip tie it to the rails so it does not get in the way of mowing the lawn. We went on about payment and possible financing the doors. Since this was 1000 more than we expected to pay. We worked out the arrangements and sign the papers.
All seemed well, A week later someone came by did all the measurement’s for the doors and put the AAA sign in the front lawn, not whe
