My mother lives in this apartment Building. It's a beautiful place! It has a pool, a hot tub, and exercise equipment. It has laundry rooms on each floor. It also has security. Recently I flew back to Maryland to move my mother from the first floor to the third floor. There was an overwhelming smell of mildew in her apartment caused by a leak that they couldn't find. She endured this for over a year and was diagnosed with asthma. They allowed her to move but charged her a $200 transfer fee. When I moved her I found the mildew problem. It was the air conditioner/heating unit that was located in her bedroom that was leaking onto the rug. When the rug was pulled up the mildew was present and the wood which was used to anchor the rug to the floor fell apart. My question is, why was she charged a transfer fee when the apartment she had been living in was not livable? Would the owner like to respond?
