The Mayor s Office, administered by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, assists with the protection of environmental assets. The office reorganizes government and conducts the management audits of the federal operations. The county government operates social services and waste management departments. Its public works and development department s engineering division performs in-house engineering studies and land surveys, as well as provides technical expertise and consultation solutions. The division also undertakes construction projects bikeways, sidewalks and sanitary sewer facilities. It is responsible for the inspection of stormwater, wastewater and roadway structures. In addition, the county government assists with the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.
