- Medical Weight LossEvaluate levels of depression. Women who have previously been diagnosed with depression when they were younger are vulnerable to recurrent depression during perimenopause. Women suffering from depression (which is associated with a chemical imbalance in the brain) report symptoms of prolonged tiredness, loss of interest in normal activities, weight loss, sadness, or irritability. Treatments range from herbal remedies such as St. John's wort for mild to moderate depression to prescription medications or talk therapy for various levels of depression.

- GynecologyGynecology is the branch of physiology and medicine that deals with the functions and diseases specific to women and girls, especially those affecting the reproductive system.
- ObstetricsThe midwife is a professional in obstetrics. The term is used in reference to both women and men, although most midwives are female. In addition to providing care to women during pregnancy and birth, some midwives may also provide primary care related to reproductive health, including annual gynecological exams, family planning, and menopausal care. Many developing countries are investing money and training for midwives and other community health workers so that they can provide well-woman primary care services that are currently lacking.
- Pelvic PainIn women, gonorrhea is a common cause of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). About 750,000 women each year in the United States develop PID. The symptoms may be quite mild or can be very severe and can include abdominal pain and fever. PID can lead to internal abscesses (pus-filled “pockets” that are hard to cure) and long-lasting, chronic pelvic pain. PID can damage the fallopian tubes enough to cause infertility or increase the risk of ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition in which a fertilized egg grows outside the uterus, usually in a fallopian tube.
- PregnancyGynecologists have also been trained in obstetrics (pregnancy and childbirth) but their main concern is the care of women's health in general, especially in relation to the female reproductive system - dealing with issues ranging from menstruation and fertility to sexually transmitted diseases and hormone disorders.
- Labor and DeliveryIt is important that throughout your prenatal care, you should ask or discuss with your healthcare provider, any questions or concerns that you may have. No question is ever stupid. Do not be shy or afraid to ask questions or discuss concerns. Examples of questions that pregnant women have include, but are not limited to, laboratory tests and imaging studies, medications that are safe to use in pregnancy, exercise, sex, diet in pregnancy. You may also want to discuss the labor and delivery process, for example, how accommodating is the provider about a birth plan, does the provider and/or facility where you plan to deliver allow a vaginal birth after cesarean section (for women with previous cesarean section)? If not, can your healthcare provider refer you to a facility where it can be done. If you have a birth plan, take it and discuss the details with your healthcare provider. He/she will go over them and discuss with you what will be doable or not doable. Generally, most healthcare providers work with their patients to accommodate whatever they can. However, bear in mind that sometimes during labor, things might not always go as planned and in case of an emergency or in cases where problems arise, despite all the good intentions, your birth plan may not be followed as originally planned. So keep an open mind. The more you know about the birthing process and what to expect, the less will be the surprises, and the more rewarding your experience will be.
- Cervical CancerCervical cancer screening is usually part of a woman's health checkup. There are two types of tests: the Pap test and the HPV test. For both, the doctor or nurse collects cells from the surface of the cervix. With the Pap test, the lab checks the sample for cancer cells or abnormal cells that could become cancer later. With the HPV test, the lab checks for HPV infection. HPV is a virus that spreads through sexual contact. It can sometimes lead to cancer. If your screening tests are abnormal, your doctor may do more tests, such as a biopsy.
- Mental HealthMood swings, short-term memory loss, and sometimes difficulty thinking straight are common complaints from midlife women. These can affect women's mental health and sense of well-being. And while many of these symptoms are attributed to menopause, there are other contributing factors, including the following...
- UltrasoundUltrasound uses sound waves to develop ultrasound images of what's going on inside the body. An instrument called a transducer emits high-frequency sound, inaudible to human ears, and then records the echoes as the sound waves bounce back to determine the size, shape, and consistency of soft tissues and organs.
- MRIMRI (magnetic resonance imaging): This is a test for women with a high risk of breast cancer. MRI is a procedure that uses a magnet, radio waves, and a computer to make a series of detailed pictures of areas inside the body. MRI does not use any x-rays. MRIs find breast cancer more often than mammograms do, but it is common for MRI results to appear abnormal even when there isn't any cancer.
- HysterectomySome physicians recommend that all women undergoing a hysterectomy or abortion be treated for BV prior to the procedure, regardless of symptoms, to reduce their risk of developing an infection.
- BotoxAs DelMed Health continues to increase its offerings to include Aesthetics services, our patients have been inquiring more and more about skin care products they can purchase while at their appointment. Many of our patients have been specifically requesting something for the eye area. Neocutis has a skin regimen product line specifically for the eye area which brought us to Neocutis Lumiere. This intensive line smoothing eye cream formulated with PSP®(Processed Skin Cell Proteins) is specifically made for the delicate tissue around the eye. While many people often try alternative methods such as Botox, fillers and even surgery to minimize wrinkles, droopy lids and signs of aging, there are less invasive ways as a patient to maintain your skin’s appearance.

- UlcerGenital ulcer diseases can occur in both male and female genital areas that are covered or protected by a latex condom, as well as in areas that are not covered. Correct and consistent use of latex condoms can reduce the risk of genital herpes.
- LesionsPersons with herpes should abstain from sexual activity with uninfected partners when lesions or other symptoms of herpes are present. It is important to know that even if a person does not have any symptoms he or she can still infect sex partners. Sex partners of infected persons should be advised that they may become infected and they should use condoms to reduce the risk. Sex partners can seek testing to determine if they are infected with HSV. A positive HSV-2 blood test most likely indicates a genital herpes infection.
