  For the next three weeks, Jeff and company hold up in their offices and drill into the critical job of costing out new home construction. Every stud, shingle, window etc. is priced. With the aid of special software, even the construction adhesive used to glue the plywood to wood joists is factored in. Prices are obtained from contractors for HVAC, painting, and plumbing plus special fixtures and appliances.
