General Info

Beverage King Welcome to the Beverage King! We are a family-owned and operated store located in West Lebanon, NH. Our goal is to provide the widest possible selection of beer in the Upper Valley. We also do our best to provide an extensive selection of wine, soft drinks, water, and tobacco products, including cigarettes by the carton or pack, cigars, snuff, chewing tobacco, and pipe tobacco. The Beverage King was first opened in July of 1955 by Earl Heath, Jr., better known in the community as "Boze". He purchased a 4-room farmhouse on Church Street, just off the town common in Lebanon. He filled each room with a different type of product ; one room for beer, one for soda, one for tobacco, one for groceries, and named it Church Street Market. In 1960, Boze moved the business down to High Street, and changed its name to reflect its new location. When High Street Market opened, a customer could buy a pack of cigarettes for 25 cents, and it only cost $3.49 for a case of Budweiser! The store went through a lot on High Street, including a fire in the building that required more than two dozen firemen to put out. Not long after, the business was given a new name, Heath's Friendly Markets. In the mid-70's, Boze opened another store in West Lebanon, in the plaza where Rich's was located. This new location was called The Beverage King. He gave it the name because his goal was to be "the King of Price and Selection" in the Upper Valley. Business was good, and at the height of The Beverage King's success, we also had stores in Claremont, Hanover, and White River Junction, VT. In the early '80's, in need of more space, we purchased a former paint store on Interchange Drive and relocated The Beverage King's main store after remodeling the building. Today, The Beverage King has one location, on Interchange Drive in West Lebanon. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in July of 2005 with a week-long event, offering free tastings, live broadcasts, a dunk tank, and free prizes for more than fifty customers. We hope to celebrate fifty more, and in the meantime we are working hard to remain "the King in Price and Selection!"
