The Public Works Department offers a range of health- and safety-related services. The department operates through streets, water and sewer division, equipment maintenance, engineering and inspection divisions. It is also responsible for groundwater protection. The department has worked on several projects, including Gordon Avenue Storm Drain, Fairfield Road Improvement and West & West Hillfield Improvement. The Public Works Department is governed by Layton City in Utah. The city operates through community development and finance departments. Its fire department provides fire protection, hazardous materials incident mitigation and comprehensive emergency medical services. Layton City also maintains public works, parks and recreation and police departments.
