Established in 1977, Southwest Medical Associates offers health care services for various diseases. It is comprised of more than 250 physicians and operates over 10 medical clinics and is one of the largest medical groups in the United States. The group provides services in several specialties, including cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, heart failure, HIV/AIDS, neurology, pain management, podiatry, rheumatology, pulmonology and wound care. Southwest Medical Associates supports disease management programs that include anticoagulation, heart failure and incontinence clinics. It also conducts various health education classes and disease management programs. The group is owned and operated by UnitedHealth Group, which is one of the largest health care organizations in the United States and serves nearly 70 million citizens.
