He then went on to complete specialty training in orthodontics at the University of Michigan, where he earned a Master of Science degree and conducted research in facial development and cleft palate. Dr. Charchut is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He has practiced orthodontics in Lansing and St. Johns since 2005.

He has served on the Board of Directors of the Central District Dental Society and as a member of the Lansing Sparrow Hospital Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Team. His clinical and genetic research has been published in the Journal of Dentistry for Children, the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Laryngoscope Medical Journal.
