My six-year-old Autistic son was physically abused by his 1 to 1 ABA tutor at the ABC location in Newhall, CA, on 04/21/17. When he came home my family and I took off his shirt and found cuts, scratches and bruises all over his back. I took photos and sent them via text to Gloria Bishop, the BCBA/supervisor of my son's tutors and Gloria stated it was Christina Miller (my son's evening 1 to 1 ABA tutor) who caused the marks on my son's body. Gloria claimed it was due to a manicure. Yes, you heard me correctly; a manicure. I took my son to urgent care where the doctor examined him and deemed Gloria's story and my son's injuries to be suspicious. Doctor called local Sheriff and deputy came to the urgent care to file the initial police report. Case is currently still under investigation by detectives at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Department Special Victims Unit. The School/ABA provider, ABC, since 4/21/17 has refused to cooperate. They did not notify my sons detective when his abuser, Christina Miller, resigned from ABC after police investigation commenced. ABC also refused to fulfill their legal obligation as mandated reporters and refused to report the abuse once I brought it to their attention. ABC also does not have cameras throughout their entire facility, so if someone hurts your child they will get away with it. They will also cover it up and refuse to report it to the authorities. ABC also misrepresents their staff regarding their licensing and certifications. For example, I was always told that Christina Miller was a registered behavior technician (RBT) but she is not. She does not have any licenses or certifications. When I asked the ABC corporate office to give me Christina Millers full name and title so I could file the necessary complaints, they refused saying it was a violation her privacy. Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc., is a corrupt and dirty organization only interested in making money off children with special needs and do not care at all about the well-being of the children under their care. I would strongly advise any parent looking for a behavioral therapy vendor through the Regional Renter to avoid ABC like the plague. It is a terrible place run and controlled by terrible people. Be advised.
