Located in Lakewood, Calif., Holmes Elementary School serves more than 600 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school imparts reading skills to its elementary-grade students through phonics instruction. Additionally, it conducts classes in art, music, physical education, library skills, science and computer applications. Holmes Elementary School also has a library and media center that provides a variety of resources, such as books, journals, magazines and Internet access. The school operates fine arts, computer applications, and health and physical education departments. It has a staff that includes a psychologist, specialist, speech pathologist, and physical and occupational therapists. Holmes Elementary School is a part of the Long Beach Unified School District.
