  Knowledgeable - Both Owners of Better Built Homes, Inc. have done many aspects of Home Building including: framing, siding, General Contracting, installing millwork and cabinets, concrete flatwork and foundations, roofing, hanging drywall, etc. What this means is that we know home building inside and out. We understand how important it is to stay on schedule because it affects Trades that follow us. We know a badly bowed stud will affect the installion of countertops, an out of square room will show up like a sore thumb on a tiled floor, extra backing at stair ends and railings help the millwork installers, etc.

  Better Built Homes, Inc. is a family business owned and operated by two cousins Jess and Mike Nelson. We are second generation Home Builders. Our fathers were Jacks of all Trades and as young teenagers we began working with them as Laborers and Apprentices in various trades. Together we worked our way from Laborers to Lead Carpenters. Along the way we learned various trades including framing, siding, roofing, trim carpentry, cabinetry installation, flooring installation, and concrete foundations and flatwork. Our early education of many different aspects of home building has provided us with a unique knowledge of the building process. This knowledge along with our pride in a job well done has given us the ability to consistently provide our customers with superior products and service.   As our reputation for great work and fair pricing grew we determined that instead of doing many things it was time to focus on and become the best at one thing. Framing is and was the favorite for both of us, so we decided Framing Contractors is what we are. In the beginning we Framed houses just the two of us. Soon after we hired our first employee, then another, then we decided we each should run a crew and we grew to two framing crews, then three, then four, now five, and still growing.

  At the young ages of 20 and 22 we decided to strike out together as Framing Sub Contractors and also General Contracted our first spec home that same year. Both were a success and we formed and Incorporated Better Built Homes, Inc. in 1997 and have been consistently providing superior craftsmanship, value, and service to Builders and Homeowners ever since. At the beginning we did a little bit of everything. Our first ten years or so as a Company we provided Framing, Trim Carpentry, Siding Installation, and General Contracted many new homes, remodels and additions.
