Margaret “Maggie” Wimberly has been practicing as an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner since 2010. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Tampa. Ms. Wimberly specializes in preventive care, chronic disease management and patient-centered health and wellness care. What is your patient care philosophy?I take a holistic approach to patient-centered care, primary prevention and disease management, being attentive to patients' needs and listening to their stories to know them individually as patients. What would you like people to know about you as a care provider?I believe in speaking in such a way that others love to listen to you and listen in such a way that others love to speak to you. Why did you decide to become a nurse practitioner?Being a nurse practitioner allows me to be aneffective communicator and to practice medicine in a way that patients become independently responsible and make informed decisions regarding their health in a partnership approach. What do you enjoy most about working with patients?I like making a difference with positive outcomes, prevention, and establishing long-lasting relationships.When did you know you wanted to be a medical care provider? I knew that is what I wanted to do in elementary school. My mother was an elementary school teacher and my father was a college professor, and I love to teach others. How does your work improve lives?A thorough medical history and physical exam can lead to positive outcomes.What are some interesting facts about you?I have a strong affection for saltwater fishing, boating and four wheeling.With what community and volunteer organizations are you involved?American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.Would you like to share about your family?I am married to a Firefighter/Paramedic/Driver Engineer with two beautiful children.
