Lauren Fessler is an Audiologist specializing in diagnostic audiology, adult hearing aid fitting, amplification services, assistive listening devices, and hearing protection devices. She is skilled in a wide variety of audiologic services including tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions, videonystagmography, computerized dynamic posturography, auditory brainstem response testing, and much more. Ms. Fessler earned her Doctor of Audiology degree at the University of South Florida in Tampa. and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. She is also a member of the Florida Academy of Audiology. She sees patients at the Grasslands campus. Describe your clinical specialties. I specialize in Diagnostic Audiology, adult hearing aid fitting and amplification services, assistive listening devices, and hearing protection devices What is your patient care philosophy? One size does not fit all. I strive to provide individualized care to address the communication needs of each of my patients. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? One of my greatest joys in being an audiologist is helping to mend and improve relationships through effective communication. How does your work improve lives? You may "hear" through your ears, but you process sound in your brain. Auditory stimulation is a foundational component to brain health. We want the brain to be maximally stimulated for as long as possible, which helps keep our overall health in check. This is why hearing impairment has such a large impact on not only communication, but also our health as a whole. What are some interesting facts about you? I was born and raised in Florida. In fact, I attended the Florida State University when we won the National Championship! I enjoy being by the water and outdoor activities, and I like walking the neighborhood or going to the gym after work. With which community and volunteer organizations are you involved? I volunteer for the University of South Florida Alumni Chapter. Would you like to share about your family? I have a cat, Emmie, who I rescued about 4 years ago. She is the queen of the house and a total snuggle bug.
