Getting to Know: Ben Miller, MD Dr. Ben Miller has been practicing Orthopedics since 2011. He specializes in Orthopedic Traumatology and Hip Reconstruction. What is your patient care philosophy?Patients and problems, regardless of complexity, should be approached equally. What would you like people to know about you as a physician?I am a normal person, much like any patient. This just happens to be the job I chose because of my passion. Why did you decide to become a physician? I enjoy problem solving and seeing the results of a plan of action. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? Seeing people overcome what they perceive as non-recoverable injuries. When did you know you wanted to be a doctor? After surgery from a collegiate sports injury, my interest piqued. After graduation, my experience in sports medicine “sealed the deal.” How does your work improve lives? An injury can debilitate patients. There are few things more gratifying than seeing a surgery restore a person’s physical abilities. What else would you like to share with our readers? I am from a humble background. My father worked construction and as a taxidermist. My mother was a teacher’s aide for disabled children. What are some interesting facts about you? I was a collegiate athlete. What childhood memory do you have about visiting the doctor? I was uninsured as a child and did not go to physicians. What else would you like to share with our readers? I enjoy fishing, barbecue and spending too much time following sports.
