Why do metal faced signs have a problem with parts of graphics falling out? Because the faces were not made with fasteners and the manufacturer “glued” the parts of the acrylic graphics. NO GLUE WILL HOLD acrylic to metal; not even pliable silicone. Thermal expansion of plastics is 6x greater than metal. It eventually de-laminates. Electromedia has always used mechanical non-corrosive fasteners that are guaranteed to hold for the life of the sign. (* Not including damage from sign hit by vehicles) New techniques for sign faces to be indestructible utilize .090 to .125 aluminum faces finished with Mathews Polyurethane Paint System and routed to reveal pushed through or flush acrylic letters bolted to #2 side of aluminum. Why is it wise to choose one manufacturer for signs for your repeat branch or franchised sign program once you have selected your contractor/manufacturer? Because that company has all your design software, and you can't order exact replacement parts, faces & letters. The lighting designed into the sign must be maintained at the same intensity and lumen output. The colors are custom selected and must be applied under the same specifications to achieve uniformity.
