SAIF Corporation is a self-supporting, nonprofit entity that provides workers compensation insurance to Oregon employers. The company pays statutory benefits, such as wage loss, medical, permanent disability and death. It also offers a variety of services, including claims management, marketing, underwriting, vocational rehabilitation, investigation, loss control, industrial hygiene and legal representation. A five-member board of directors, appointed by the state governor, establishes direction and policy for the company. SAIF returns all funds in excess of expenses, claims and claim reserves to its eligible policyholders through dividends, rate reductions and improved services.
