Established in 1937, Clay Electric Cooperative Inc. is a one of the leading nonprofit electric power suppliers in the United States. Based in Keystone Heights, Fla., the cooperative provides electricity, outdoor lighting repairs, power restoration services, trading post, capital credit schemes and vegetation management. The organization has approximately 1,65,000 member owners and its service area stretches into 14 North Florida counties and over 12,900 miles of distribution and transmission lines. It is a Touchstone Energy cooperative, a national alliance of local, member owned electric cooperatives. Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Flagler, Gilchrist, Lake, Levy, Marion, Putnam, Suwannee, Union and Volusia are the areas it covers.
