• Dental Examination
  Let us know as soon as you begin to see your child’s teeth coming in and we can get acquainted during a parent’s appointment. By age two or three, when all of their teeth have come in, they should have a dental exam. For this first visit and later ones, we are happy to accommodate parents who want to stay with their children in the patient rooms.

Preventive

• Teeth Cleaning
  Your new tooth is finished when the dentist places a crown on the fixture. The result looks natural and can accommodate your normal eating and teeth cleaning activities. Unlike a bridge, you will not need special flossing tools.
• Fluoride Treatment
  Getting fluoride treatments can be helpful for children, especially once their adult teeth come in. Fluoride helps teeth resist the process of decay and can even combat existing early decay lesions.

Restorative

• Fillings
  There has been a lot of research regarding the safety of mercury in amalgam fillings. Many dentists agree that they pose no danger to patients, though some studies have shown that chewing on amalgam fillings can release mercury vapor in small amounts.
• Veneers
  A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of custom-made porcelain designed to cover the front of a tooth. Porcelain veneers conceal imperfections in teeth, enhance their appearance, and can transform your smile beautifully.
• Crowns
  A dental crown can repair damaged teeth by placing a ceramic cover on top of the healthy tooth interior. Dr. Theriot provides a popular crown-in-a-day service that uses advanced technology to make this process more convenient and satisfying.
• Bridges
  In the past, dentists routinely used crowns and bridges to replace missing teeth. Dental crowns are made by grinding down the top of a damaged tooth and bonding a porcelain cap to it. A bridge (as you can see from the drawing to the left) uses two crowns on either side of the gap to hold a suspended false tooth.

• Dentures
  No matter how well made your dentures are, you need to be aware they have some limitations. As long as you understand the limitations, you’ll be more likely to adjust to wearing dentures. Dentures rest on moveable tissue that makes them movable. Though we make dentures to fit your mouth quite well, they will never be 100% secure. Your chewing efficiency will reduce by about 50%. You’ll still be able to eat, but it won’t be the same as your natural teeth.
• Overdentures
  Getting implant-supported dentures will solve each of the problems listed above. Two to six implants can be placed in your jaw, and a denture made to attach to them. Some options involve screwing the denture to the implants. This is called a fixed implant denture and requires at least four implants. Or the denture can be made to snap onto the implants. This is called an implant overdenture and can be retained with as few as two implants.
