Formed in 1997, Force Protection Inc. is one of the leading centers for blast technology and counter improvised explosive device (IED) research in the United States. The company designs, manufactures, tests, delivers and supports blast- and mine-protected vehicles around the world. It has a 260-acre campus housing a manufacturing facility of 400,000 square feet. With a workforce of more than 1,000, the company manufactures vehicles, such as Buffalo, Cheetah, Cougar 4x4, Cougar 6x6 and many more. Its European counterpart, Force Protection Europe (FPE) offers services, such as Local Design Authority for all Force Protection base vehicles and locally sourced spare parts provision, among others. The company has partnered with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) to foster research in the area of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
