Thao Drcar, MS, is a board-certified adult nurse practitioner (ANP-BC) and clinical nurse specialist (CNS) who treats patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). She helps manage the complex care of patients who are undergoing pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) surgery and balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA). Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 2011, Drcar was a nurse practitioner in cardiac care at Sharp Memorial Hospital, San Diego Cardiac Center, Scripps Clinic Medical Group and Green Hospital. She has also served as an adjunct clinical professor at San Diego State University for students in the advanced practice nursing of adults and elderly concentration. Drcar earned her Master of Science in nursing from San Diego State University. She holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Point Loma Nazarene College in San Diego.
