Based in La Grange, Texas, Hermes Elementary School enrolls more than 600 students in grades kindergarten through third grade. Student-teacher ratio in the school is 15-to-1. The school curriculum includes storytelling, spelling, creative writing, ready writing and music memory. All students in grades kindergarten through three participate in physical education activities at least 135 minutes per week, as per state physical education requirements. In grades first through third, students participate in one day of art and one day of music, leaving three days for physical education each week. Kindergarten participates in one day of music and four days physical education. The school is a Title 1 school and is part of the La Grange Independent School District.
