It handles cases related to theft, rape, murder, burglary, robbery and forgery. The office operates a jail, as well as offers sex offender registration services under the OffenderWatch brand name. The Walker County Sheriff's Office maintains a staff of more than 100 employees. It operates a uniform patrol division that responds to emergency and nonemergency calls. The office maintains a detective division that has a domestic violence unit and investigates missing individuals.
