- GlaucomaWe don't just make beautiful glasses. Managing chronic eye disease is something we love to do everyday at Winston Eye and Vision Center. The most common chronic eye problems we diagnose and treat include: dry eye, macular degeneration, cataracts, and glaucoma.
- Macular DegenerationMacular Degeneration is a disease process that destroys the central vision. There are two types of macular degenration: dry and wet. The dry form slowly destroys the macula and depending on the degree of vision loss, suppliments may be suggested by Dr. Winston to slow the progression of the disease. The wet form of the disease, characterized by bleeding in the back of the eye, can take away a patients vision very quickly. Our newest piece of equipment, The Cirrus OCT, helps the doctors at Winston Eye and Vision Center diagnose and manage macular degenration like never before. If you are in your fifties or older, caucasian, a smoker, or have a family history of macular degeneration then you could be at risk for developing the disease.
- CataractsCataracts initially cause blurry vision, significant changes in your glasses prescription, difficulty driving at night, and the need for more light to read. Severe cataracts cause blindness and should be removed by a skilled surgeon before the cataract becomes severe. As your primary eye care provider we will walk you through the surgery process and the different lens options available if you want to be less dependent on glasses post-surgery.
