The University of Tennessee Student Health Service includes primary care, psychiatric evaluation, counseling, psychological, health education and immunization services. It has various specialty clinics in the areas of surgery, sports medicine, allergy and physical therapy. The division also provides information on family planning and birth control, as well as laboratory services. The University of Tennessee Student Health Service maintains a women s clinic that offers a variety of gynecological services, including tests for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. In addition, it provides urgent care services in case of injuries, lacerations and acute illness. The division is located in Knoxville, Tenn., and is a part of The University of Tennessee, which was founded in 1794. The university has an enrollment of more than 20,000 undergraduate and over 5,000 graduate students. The University of Tennessee covers an area of nearly 500 acres and maintains approximately 200 buildings.
