Anyone with any knowledge of or experience with martial arts will either know, or know of Jerry McCleary (or should). I have worked out with and have been associated with various martial arts disciplines on and off (to be truthful, mostly off - around 10 years of my ~50 years of life), in states mostly in the mid-west (OH, IN, TN), and can honestly say that I have NEVER met (or worked out with) anyone with superior skills. Morever, McCleary is without question the best teacher of martial arts I have known. As some reviewers have pionted out, McCleary is primarily a private instructor. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" and private lessons add up quickly. However, in my opinion, Jerry provides instruction that exceeds the cost - you simply could not buy better instruction at any cost.

McCleary has an expansive martial arts history with 25 years of experience in many arts. He is an excellent teacher, and one of the best in the state. However, there are some points to be aware of before signing on with him. 1) McCleary is primarily a private instructor. If you are not looking for a serious commitment, or if you prefer a casual, group environment, you may be better off elsewhere. He offers a group class, but that is not really the focus of the school. 2) A private instructor with McCleary's resume does not come cheap. Talk with them before beginning, and make certain that you can handle the financial responsibility. 3) This is a business, people. When you first sign on, there is a contract that they will ask you to sign. This will outline your fees, and how much notice that you must give them to terminate your contract. Read it, and if you choose to sign on, don't complain later when they hold you to it. You may not like it, but they are not deceptive about their terms

Beware, BEWARE, beware, very difficult to deal with if you have to cancel your contract. Very unprofessional in my opinion. Would not recommend. P.S. If you allow them to autodraft from a visa, etc. they will say this is a "contract" for the entire year, which they do not have to let you cancel and will threaten to turn you over to collections!!! I had to end up paying over $1200 just to avoid this. I do not recommend!!!!!!

Guru McCleary is the best instructor, by far, in the state.
