The company provides services to nearly 365 communities throughout the United States, including Knoxville, Tenn. Rural/Metro Corporation has a presence in more than 20 states. Rural/Metro Corporation had its modest beginnings more than 50 years ago when founder Lou Witzeman squelched a concern that his neighborhood did not have a fire protection service and pooled money to provide one. Rural/Metro Corporation reports more than $500 million in annual revenues and employs more than 8,000 people.
