I had gone to Dr. Chiura 2 times and was set up for day surgery. Each time I saw him I had to wait for more than an hour total in his waiting room and exam rooms. I had day surgery scheduled and was at the surgery center and ready to have the procedure done. My IV was in place and medications had already been given, when Dr. Chiura came in and cancelled the surgery stating that I had a "large" ($400) deductable on my private insurance that would need to be payed in full before he could do the procedure. I had already made arrangements with his office to make payments for anything that my insurance did not cover prior to the surgery.I went to his office later that morning to attempt to solve this issue. The staff was condescending and rude. I also discovered that Dr. Chiura had billed my insurance for tests that were never done. When I requested that the billing be fixed I was told that it was my fault that I was billed for things that had not been done.
