Head Start is a federally funded program designed to work with at risk children and their families. It serves children and families with educational, mental health, disabilities, health, nutritional, transportation and social services. Head Start additionally offers field trips and picnics to various places, such as airports, local parks and nature trails. It also provides early childhood development and health services. Head Start provides various services for children with disabilities, such as health impairment, developmental delays, hearing impairments and deafness, and emotional and behavioral disorders. It provides various activities and projects for parents, such as education, community activities and training in parenting skills. Head start provides support with counseling, clothing and transportation to service agencies. It serves various counties, such as serving Hancock, Ohio, Hawkins, Tenn., Johnson, Ga. and Sullivan, N.Y.
