If you have any questions, we are available by phone, by email or in person. We look forward to being of service to you and your family. We extend a special thanks to Laura Dent for her photography. The Currie Funeral Home began in 1924 at 116 East Church Street in the town of Kilmarnock, Virginia as A. C. Elmore Furnishing Undertaker. Its founder, Mr. Albin Chinn Elmore established it here after the untimely death of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Henry and Nannie Eubank Tabscott (dod: March 16 & 17, 1924) both of natural causes. They at the time were the towns furnishing undertakers and operated out of their home on Main Street of Kilmarnock, VA. For many years, Mr. Elmore operated out of their home on Main Street Kilmarnock, VA. Mr. Elmore operated the funeral home and later employed Mr. Emory W. Haynie who later purchased the business from him and changed the name to Elmore-Haynie Funeral Home. In 1960, Mr. James Latane Currie was employed by Mr. Haynie and in 1985 he and his wife purchased it and changed the name to Elmore-Currie Funeral Home A few years later, the Elmore was deleted and today is known as The Currie Funeral HomeMr. Gerald W. Sellers, joining the firm in 1989, and Mr. Thomas W. Gale, joining the firm in 1993. Mr. Gale retired from the firm in July 1, 2015. Mr. Sellers and Mr. Gale purchased the funeral home from the Currie Family in the year 2000.Out of respect and great admiration for our former President, Mr. Currie, the current owners have decided to keep the name, Currie Funeral Home.
