Based in Kilgore, Texas, East Texas Council of Governments provides emergency services to the Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Marion, Panola, Rains, Upshur, Van Zandt and Wood counties. It offers assistance to local criminal justice agencies in the region. The assistance is provided through funding projects, improving the criminal justice system and through seminars and technical assistance. It also provide services to the people 60 and above, with an emphasis on frail, minority and rural and low-income individual. A board of directors, through an executive committee elected from its membership, determines programs and goals of ETCOG.
