  Robert A. Spottswood was born in Key West, Florida. Mr. Spottswood graduated from Key West High School in 1975, the University of Florida in 1979 and the University of Miami, School of Law in 1982. As a partner in the Miami law firm of Taylor, Brion, Buker & Greene, Mr. Spottswood specialized in corporate law. While in Miami, Mr. Spottswood made successful investments in real estate, banking and broadcasting. Mr. Spottswood returned home to Key West in 1992 to create what would become the Keys largest hospitality company.

  In his capacity as an attorney, he oversaw the development approval process for the properties owned and operated by Spottswood Management, as well as for other third-party projects effected by Environmental Land Use Law.
