- AcupressureThe term massage as we’ve come to know it in the West is an inadequate characterization of this modality. Thai massage is a multifaceted bodywork system that includes therapeutic stretching, joint mobilization, rhythmic deep tissue compression, toning of energy lines, acupressure, assisted hatha yoga poses, mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation. For this reason, you may see it referred to as Thai Yoga Massage. All of these combine to promote an opening of the entire body thus balancing energy and creating a wholeness of mind, body and spirit.
- Acupuncture® (Aquatic Shiatsu) began at the School of Shiatsu and Massage at Harbin Hot Springs. Harold Dull developed this Aquatic Bodywork form by applying stretches and principles of the Zen Shiatsu he had studied in Japan, while floating people in water. Zen Shiatsu incorporates stretches that release blockages along meridians, the channels through which our “Chi” or life force flows. In the Orient stretching is an even older therapy than acupuncture which focuses on points along these meridians.
