About Skytown As a cooperative program, Skytown member families are integral in the administration and maintenance of the school. They also have the option of participating in the classroom as teacher assistants. This model helps keep our tuition low and allows parents to be full participants in their children's education. We are more than a preschool, but a community of parents and educators, friends and family. Our school is a co-operative endeavor, in which parents work together with staff to both run the business and educate our children. Together we create a community that supports and nurtures parents and children, through preschool years and beyond. Skytown's curriculum is play-based. Play is a vital component in the early childhood learning stages. Our qualified teachers provide a variety of inviting activities, with developmentally appropriate concepts and challenges in the arts, science, math, reading and writing. Our aim is to encourage the children to explore and ask questions about the activities, projects and the world around them. All this, we believe can be done in a fun and playful environment. Skytown's goal is to support the social and emotional development of children. Children learn to negotiate with peers and form friendships as well as to interact and feel comfortable around the other Skytown participating teacher-parents. We emphasize learning how to treat others with kindness, respect, and understanding. Skytown offers an environment that is safe and healthy for young children to develop. We maintain a low ratio of parents to children to create an environment that is both free and safe. We have a very large outdoor play space, which the children have access to almost the entire day, even in wet weather. We expose the children to our natural environment by taking walks in the trees around our property. Skytown Amenities Over 5, 000 square feet of indoor space. Stations include: kitchens, dress up/imaginative play, reading nooks, art, manipulatives, sensory exploration and more. A sunny outdoor play area with playground equipment, water tables, sand toys, tricycles, push cars and more.
