- Dental CareMaintaining a high level of oral and dental care is one of the most commonly overlooked areas of pet health. The American Veterinary Dental Society reports that 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats show signs of oral disease by age three.
- VaccinationVaccinations are a critically important part of your pet's healthcare. Pets, especially those that go outdoors, are at risk for exposure to infectious diseases.
- Behavioral CounselingThe veterinarians and their staff are eager to provide accurate information and explanations about new puppy or kitten behaviors, offer practical strategies to prevent problems of developing pets, and advice to correct early behavioral problems.
- Comprehensive ExaminationIn accordance with the guidelines of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA®), at a minimum, it is recommended that your older pet receive a yearly physical examination. But because cats and dogs age about 5-7 years for every human year of life, more frequent check-ups may be suggested. Animals' accelerated aging means that a pet's health can change dramatically in a very short period of time.
- Parasites Treatment and ControlOur veterinary hospital is stocked to fill most medication orders prescribed by a Vista Veterinary Hospital veterinarian for acute and chronic illnesses as well as those that prevent and control external and internal parasites.
- Pain Management
- Leptospirosis TreatmentDogs with extensive exposure to other dogs (boarding, grooming, outdoor, or free-roaming dogs) should receive an initial vaccine against kennel cough and then annual boosters (good for one year). It is also recommended that dogs exposed to lakes and rivers when hunting, camping, or hiking be vaccinated against leptospirosis every six months.
- Arthritis TreatmentAdvances in veterinary medicine allow us to help pets live longer than ever before. With an increased lifespan, however, comes an increase in the types of ailments that can afflict senior pets. Pets' age-related conditions and diseases include: weight and mobility changes; osteoarthritis; kidney, heart and liver diseases; tumors and cancers; hormone disorders, such as diabetes and thyroid imbalance; and many others. Vista veterinarians work closely with their clients to devise health plans to maintain optimal health of aging pets.

- Periodontal Disease TreatmentVista Veterinary Hospital's dental care begins when puppies and kittens are examined for problems related to their baby teeth, missing or extra teeth, swellings and oral development. Later on, we look for growth abnormalities, the accumulation of plaque and tartar, periodontal disease, and oral tumors.

- MicrochippingIt wasn't meant to happen, but somehow your puppy got loose and is too young to know its way home. Or your older dog wanders away and aging senses are inadequate for remembering his or her address. Or your indoor/outdoor cat fails to return at the usual hour.

- Senior Pet CareCareful attention will be paid to the senior pet examined by your Vista veterinarian, especially to its orthopedic status, cardiovascular system, and ophthalmic condition. Age-appropriate blood tests, a urinalysis, and suggestions for the use of products that can be of benefit might also be recommended.
