City of Kenai Public Works Department offers a range of public utility services for residential, commercial and mobile home placements. It operates a building division that provides residential and commercial construction, plumbing and electrical alteration, building moving and demolition and sign permit issuance. Its planning and zoning division provides historic preservation, planning, zoning, code enforcement and geographic information services. It also acts as a staff liaison for the planning and zoning commission. The department has a city dock division that provides fresh water, diesel fuel, gas and restrooms.
