MNIS, also known as Mid-Nebraska Individual Services, is a private, nonprofit community-based program that serves individuals with developmental disabilities. Founded in 1972, the organization provides a variety of personal growth, community living and employment opportunities. It provides assistance with daily independent living skills and shopping. Mid-Nebraska Individual Services helps members to participate in community and social events. The organization offers sheltered employment to work crews in factories and full-time competitive employment options. In addition, it provides daily transportation to worksites. Mid-Nebraska Individual Services provides assisted community living services that allow people to live in their homes or agency-managed residential facilities. The organization maintains a location in Kearney, Neb.
