The Buffalo County Sheriff's Department is a law enforcement agency that offers services for the protection of residents lives and their property, as well as deterrence, detection and investigation of criminal activities. It maintains an operations division that is comprised of civil process, warrant, investigative and patrol sections. The department also has a support services division that consists of sheriff's staff, community services, training and communication sections. In addition, the Buffalo County Sheriff's Department operates a detention center that houses pretrial, presentenced, and county- and state-sentenced prisoners. It works in partnership with the Kearney Police Department, as well as other local, state and federal agencies. The Buffalo County Sheriff's Department is located in Kearney, Neb.
