We have a 3 x 5 wool persian rug that Ara's washed and ruined. We've had the rug for over forty years and it was beautiful with vivid colors. Our dog urinated on the rug and although there was no stain we decided to have it cleaned. I called a store that sold oriental rugs and asked if he could recommend a business that would do a good job of cleaning the rug - He suggested Ara's. The dyes in the rug bled when it was washed and the whites in the rug turned to pink and the reds turned to purple. There is a approximately 5 inch border around the rug and now one side of the border is one shade and the other side is another shade. The fringe turned from white to pink. When we picked up the rug the ends of the fringe was in little stiff balls apparently from the water and soap used to clean the rug drying up on the fringe. The owner took a sponge to unloosen the balls, and said I could remove the pink dye from the fringe by using white vinegar.
