Kalamazoo County Road Commission maintains a county road system for public travel. It maintains more than 1,254 miles of county roads, provides traffic control services and maintains the roadsides along the county roadways. The road commission is governed by a board of three county road commissioners who represent the public by districts. It offers a variety of policies to ensure public safety and convenience. Its policies include bid openings and rejection, brush removal and control, transportation permits, tree replacement, and roadside vegetation management and weed control. Kalamazoo County Road Commission s budget is funded by the gas tax and vehicle registration fees. The road commission is based in Kalamazoo, Mich.
