- Dental Examination
- Teeth CleaningYou can expect your dental cleaning to last between 30 minutes to an hour. Typically, a trained hygienist will do the cleaning, and a dentist may come in for an exam at the end. Most people find that dental cleanings are painless, and do not cause any discomfort. There are two important steps to a dental cleaning.
- Fluoride TreatmentFluoride has also been proven to help reduce sensitivity on root surfaces and the crown of the tooth. This application is highly recommended for children, as well as adults. A fluoride treatment is quick and painless. We will paint a thin layer of fluoride on all of your teeth. Fluoride varnish is a sticky substance that has a pleasant taste. The varnish application is fast, allowing you to eat and drink right away.
- Dental SealantsPermanent molars are the most likely to benefit from sealants. The first molars usually come into the mouth when a child is about 6 years old. Second molars appear at about age 12. It is best if the sealant is applied soon after the teeth have erupted, before they have a chance to decay.
- FillingsWhen treating a cavity, Dr. Tyrer will remove the decayed portion of your tooth and fill it with another substance. This procedure is called a filling. There are multiple options for the material to be used in the filling, the most common of which are composite fillings and amalgam fillings.
- Resin CompositeDr. Tyrer's top priority is patient satisfaction and comfort. Dr. Tyrer loves to show patient's the positive effects that quality dental care can have on their lives. He is proud to offer a number of dental treatments for patients of all ages, such as full mouth restoration, cosmetic procedures, tooth colored resin composite fillings, porcelain crowns, veneers, and non-iv sedation dentistry. He says, "I love helping people obtain their dream smile. I also find great pleasure in helping people so they are comfortable and pain free."
- VeneersTwo visits to your dentist are typically required for porcelain veneers. In the first visit, three actions are taken. Firstly, your teeth are prepared to be fitted with a veneer, which will involve trimming a portion of the tooth so the veneer can be bonded on top. Secondly, an impression is taken of your tooth which will be sent to a laboratory to prepare the veneer. Finally, you may receive a temporary veneer depending on how much of your tooth structure was removed. This temporary veneer will protect your tooth while the permanent veneer is prepared at the laboratory.
- CrownsA removable partial denture or bridge usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which is connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth. Partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. A fixed (permanent) bridge replaces one or more teeth by placing crowns on the teeth on either side of the space and attaching artificial teeth to them. This "bridge" is then cemented into place. Not only does a partial denture fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from changing position. A precision partial denture is removable and has internal attachments rather than clasps that attach to the adjacent crowns. This is a more natural-looking appliance.
- BridgesDental bridges fill the gap between teeth caused by one or more missing teeth. A bridge will cosmetically improve a person's smile, stabilize the teeth in the mouth from shifting, and increase the chewing power a person has lost from missing teeth.
- Restorative DentistrySo many of our patients are in this same situation– missing teeth due to trauma or years of neglect, but that’s alright because we have a few different options. To replace your missing teeth and regain the functionality of your teeth once again, we may recommend dental implants, crowns, or bridges. Once we evaluate your teeth and gums, we can determine which restorative dentistry service is the best for you.
- Root Canal TreatmentDo you become anxious as soon as you step into a dentist’s office? Have you been putting off dental care you need — such as gum disease treatment, root canal therapy, or restorative dentistry — because you fear the dentist? If so, sedation dentistry will put your fears to rest.

- DenturesUnlike conventional dentures, immediate dentures are made in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. As a result, the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. However, bones and gums shrink over time, especially during the healing period following tooth removal. Therefore a disadvantage of immediate dentures compared with conventional dentures is that they require more adjustments to fit properly during the healing process and generally should only be considered a temporary solution until conventional dentures can be made.
- Dental ImplantsMissing teeth don’t need to affect your appearance, bite, or chewing capability. They can be easily replaced with the aid of dental implants, providing greater benefits than are readily imaginable. Dental implants prevent your bite from shifting, fill out your jaw to preserve your mouth’s appearance and prevent bone disintegration, and keep the skin around your vacant tooth from shrinking and aging your face.

- Tooth ExtractionsA dental extraction is the procedure to remove a tooth from your mouth. A dental extraction is most commonly required if one of your teeth is damaged beyond practical repair.
