The good news first. Jay is a very good optometrist. Very thorough exam and seems to care about his patient's visual health. He saw me initially on an emergency basis and i was very impressed by this. He is personable and tries to make you feel comfortable. Now for the semi bad news. Jay is also very arrogant. When I told him that I had pink eye and saw my family physician, he informed me, and I quote, "anything dealing with your eyes needs to be addressed by your optometrist. WOW. When you call to make an appointment don't expect his receptionist, Joanne to be the least bit friendly. She's even colder in person. Joanne would not believe anything I had to say about my co-payment and insurance. The term, Gestapo is the best descriptive word I can find. Therefore, I rate my entire experience at Jay's office a 3/5.

Dr. Petersma is the best optometrist I have ever seen (so to speak). He takes his time with you, listens, does a thorough exam, and answers all your questions. And the glasses I received as a result are nothing short of marvelous! I can't remember the last time I was able to see so well. He also dealt well with my other medical concerns. I would recommend him without hesitation.
