- Ovarian CancerTubal Ligation - is surgical procedure to prevent pregnancy. It has commonly been called "getting your tubes tied." It is also called a female sterilization. Tubal refers to the fallopian tubes. Each month, an egg is released from an ovary and travels through the fallopian tube to the uterus. Ligation means to tie off. This procedure is also associated with the reduction of the risk of ovarian cancer.
- Cervical CancerDuring a pap smear a speculum is inserted into the vagina helping to see the cervix. A brush is used to collect cervical cells. The cells are then preserved in a liquid-based pap and sent to a local lab to be processed. The cells are then examined under a microscope and can detect infections, abnormal cells, and cervical cancer.

- Thyroid
- UltrasoundYour first prenatal appointment should be scheduled at approximately six weeks into your pregnancy. During the initial visit, an ultrasound will be performed to confirm that you are indeed pregnant and to help establish your due date. A pelvic exam will be done to collect cultures and a pap smear will be done if one has not been performed within the last six months. A breast exam may be also performed.
- MRIYour provider will start with an exam, order an ultrasound, urinalysis, and or obtain cultures. Sometimes other imaging studies are ordered such as a CT scan or MRI. Laparoscopy, a surgical procedure, is sometimes needed to diagnose and treat the cause of pelvic pain.
- Computed Tomography
- Minimally Invasive SurgeryA minimally invasive approach has been shown to improve outcomes and reduce discomfort, inconvenience and expense. Minimally Invasive Surgery allows your care to be provided in an outpatient surgical suite and very rarely require a hospital stay.
- HysterectomyWomen who have had a hysterectomy should continue to see their gynecologist on a regular, annual basis. Depending on the type of hysterectomy performed, a pap will still need to be collected. Pelvic exams should be performed annually to rule out any abnormalities that may arise.

- Laparoscopic SurgeryVaginal surgery. This is the most minimally invasive approach to major gynecologic surgery. It has all of the recovery advantages associated with laparoscopic surgery, while also avoiding any abdominal incisions.
