I went here and had the all yuo can eat oysters. I am 50 years old and these were the best steamed oysters i have ever had. They were large and not over cooked i will be back many times even though i live over 100 miles away.
Do not waste your time going here unless you want to eat Capt. D's quality seafood with $$$ price tags. I ate there 4/27/2008 and was served by a very unpleasant waitress named Stephanie. She was rude, never smiled, and acted as if we were wasting HER time. We ordered oysters on the half shell - every single bite had a shell in it and were completely overcooked. We also ordered the Admiral's Platter. What a mistake!! The crabcake was fried (who does that to crab) but it was also burnt - which Stephanie proudly brought out and slammed down on our table. The oysters on the platter also had shells fried into them - the french fries were cold and soggy. I will give them credit on the shrimp - those were actually tasty. However the cocktail sauce had soured - yet still served - and never replaced with new sauce even after it was requested. Bottom Line: There are so many excellent seafood restaurants in Charleston - don't waste your time or money with the Gilligan's on Johns Island!!
