Kimco Realty Corporation is a Real Estate Investment Trust that specializes in the acquisition, development and management of neighborhood and community shopping centers. Milton Cooper and Martin Kimmel formed Kimco in 1960 as a developer for the southern Florida area. The company owns and operates more than 1,000 properties that total 132 million square feet of leasable space in nearly 45 states. In 1998, the company merged with Price REIT, a developer and owner of shopping centers with locations throughout the Western United States. In 1999, it formed Kimco Income REIT, a joint venture with nationally recognized institutional investors. Milton Cooper has been the chief executive officer of Kimco Realty for more than 40 years. He has been with the real estate and financial services company for over 40 years. Cooper earned a BBA from CUNY City, and a LLB from Brooklyn Law School. Kimco Realty Corporation is headquartered in New Hyde Park, N.Y.
